Ferrari 599 or F141 on the roadFerrari 599 is the brand’s two-seat flagship, replacing the 575 M Maranello in 2006 as a 2007 model. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano also called F141 is powerful series production Ferrari road car of the time. This is one of the few engines whose output exceeds 100 hp per liter of displacement without any sort of forced-induction mechanism such as supercharging or turbocharging.

Its 608 N·m (448 ft·lbf) of torque will also be a new record for Ferrari’s GT cars. Most of the modifications to the engine were done to allow it to fit in the Fiorano’s engine bay (the original Enzo version could be taller as it would not block forward vision due to its mid-mounted position).

The Car Remote Start Systems

car remote start system[Bruce Dona] Sometimes you’ll get this situation: the forecast called for temperatures somewhere in the 20s, and you find yourself leaving early to take the kids to school before work. Everyone piles in the car shaking and shivering. You turn the key and are welcomed by a blast of ice-cold air from the dash vents, an excellent way to wake up but not nearly the most pleasant. Fast forward a few minutes later, and your vehicle is now nice and toasty just in time for the kids to hop out and head into school, runny noses all around from the 10-15 minutes freezing in the backseat while your ride warmed up en route. At this point, you also find yourself with a case of the sniffles, freezing feet and numb hands from gripping that ice-cold steering wheel. Does any of this sound familiar?

Ferrari Innovation 7 Speed

Ferrari logoFerrari can do many things that other car competitors can’t do, including building a machine that links past with present and that tries, however successfully, to be the fastest car to the market and back. The Ferrari California, premiering in 2008, takes its name from a 50-year-old classic while introducing some modern-day developments. A front-engine V8. A dual-clutch 7-speed transmission, for those seamless gear changes. The $230,000 auto is called a “grand tourer” I suppose for this reason, though you’d better find some small friends or very young children if you want to do any grand touring without major leg circulation issues. It’s a natural classic, all good looks and serious performance, and it’s got a foot in the present and the past. (more…)

Where I live, on the west coast of Finland, winter just arrived with the first real batch of snow. This means slow traffic as many vehicles haven’t been switched to snow tires this early in the season.

Yesterday I was doing a 60 mile trip on smaller rural roads where the snow had not been melted away by heavy traffic and salt, summer tires still on, and I thought to myself:

It’s not really dangerous or difficult to drive on slippery roads as long as you know what to do and when, you just have to adopt a different style of driving and you’ll be as safe as on dry summer roads. The danger is if you apply a summer driving style to winter roads. (more…)
